Known as the Golden Jubilee Project of the Daughters of the Pioneers of Washington. The initial deposit was made August 10,1939, final payment and full ownership by DPW was secured May 7, 1940. Assorted chapter presidents and members gathered in 1939 at the Temple of Justice in Olympia to look over the collection.
The LD McArdle collection consists of papers of correspondence, newspaper clippings and reports of the Pacific Northwest throughout his lifetime. Lucien was a pioneer of Washington state and made his mark in many aspects, including serving in the Washington State House of Representatives.
The Daughters of the Pioneers acquired this priceless collection in 1938. The anthology is currently housed in Pioneer Hall. The Daughters are working towards digitizng these historical documents so they can be shared with all.
