McArdle Collection

Lucien D. McArdle 1857-1938

Lucien D. McArdle arrived to the Washington Territory in 1883 and served in the Washington State House of Representatives.  Mr. McArdle was an avid collector of books of Northwest Americans as well as a collection of papers of correspondence, newspaper clippings and reports of the Pacific Northwest throughout his lifetime. 

Collection is purchased by Daughters!

Known as the Golden Jubilee Project the collection was purchased in 1939 Mr. McArdles death.   


Photo is of members assembled in 1939 at the Temple of Justice in Olympia looking over documents.

Pioneer Hall Seattle

The priceless collection is currently housed at Pioneer Hall which is undergoing building renovations to preserve the historic landmark for generations.  You are welcome to donate to the building fund.
